Corelle Livingware 16-Piece Set, Service for 4, includes 4-each10-1/4-inch Dinner Plates, 6-3/4-inch Bread & Butter Plates, 18- ounceSoup/Cereal Bowls, 11-ounce Stoneware Mugs, Hot Dots

Give the kitchen table an urban edge with this bold and playful 16-piece tableware set from Livingware by Corelle. An assortment of brightly colored polka dots decorates the set's plates and mugs, jumping out from a stark white backdrop. The dishes not only feature modern artistry, but also modern construction for durability through years of heavy use. With service for four, each setting includes a 10-3/4-inch dinner plate, a 6-3/4-inch bread-and-butter plate, an 18-ounce soup or cereal bowl, and an 11-ounce stoneware mug.

To construct Livingware tableware, Corelle thermally compresses three layers of glass, producing a vitrelle glass composition that is lighter than other dishware, but more durable than conventional glass. The tableware resists cracks and chips with great success, while the lamination compression process combats stains, scratches, and fading. The user-friendly plates and bowls are dishwasher- and microwave- safe and warm food in conventional ovens up to 350 degrees F. The mugs, however, find safe use in the microwave only. For the best care, avoid soaking stoneware mugs for prolonged periods of time. Corelle discourages the use of abrasives or scouring on these pieces. Users benefit from the three-year limited warranty against vitrelle breaks and chips. This set weighs 10.9 pounds upon shipping. --Jessica Reuling

    « Great stuff »
These are of the same quality and strength I have come to expect from the name of Corelle. The pattern is vibrant and fun, and looks just like the picture. Because the pattern is machine applied there are some circles that aren't perfectly centered, but it's not noticeable unless you look for it.

The cups that come with this set are Stoneware. I like this, it is an improvement over the old cups because they are larger, better formed, hold more liquid, don't have that overly hot outside when filled with coffee, and more likely to be used on a regular basis. The cups do not come with saucers.

Another thing I like is that they don't chip like other stoneware dishes I have had in the past. I have been using these dishes for over 2 months with no chips or cracks and I am a real klutz.

These dishes don't take up much space at all in a cupboard. I can stack the little plates on top of the big ones and the bowls on top of that and put it all on one shelf, which is nice if you have a small kitchen.

    Hope this helps!

    « Love my Corelle! »
I love, love, love these Corelle dishes. I purchased two sets when they were on sale. The other day I had a birthday party for my son. I realized that I forgot to get some paper birthday cake plates. So I used the small plates that came with the set. They were festive and it looked like I had planned it that way. Nice!

« Good deal for the money »
It was a good purchase, Good value for the money. Buying the items seperate would have cost me twice. All items still Made in US except for the cups which as you guess is Made in China.

    « great dishes »
I bought these for my 19 yr-old daughter who will be going off to college soon. Her dorm has a kitchenette so she'll need to stock it. She absolutely loves the pattern and, of course, the dishes will last forever. I'm still using my original corelle from 1985 and they look great!

« Finest dishes made, and for low cost »
This is not a review of this particular pattern, but of Corelleware generally. These are by far the best made dishes I have ever used. I bought my first set 20 years ago, and not a single piece has so much as chipped in all of those years. I have used them every day, frozen them, microwaved them, and moved them over a dozen times. You can drop a plate from waist height on a wood floor and it will not even chip. The plates and bowls are very easy to clean. The bowls stack in the dishwasher, unlike many bowls that are either too broad or too sharply angled to stack more than one in a dishwasher rack. The dishes are made so that they always come out of the dishwasher perfectly dry, because there is no place for moisture to pool.

Considering the very low quality of most consumer products that are available these days, Corelle is an amazing product. The one weakness in the sets are the mugs. The mugs are *not* made of the same material as the dishes, and they are *not* made in Dow-Corning's US plant. They are made in Thailand, and they are of only average quality. After 20 years, all of my mugs fell apart. The handles cracked off, presumably from too may trips to the freezer and the microwave. They are better than the Chinese made cups that are available at nearly all retail stores in the US, but they are not up the normal quality of the US-made dishes.
